US has a “Plan B” to help Ukraine without congressional approval — Kovalenko — Politics — tsn.ua

Washington has an alternative option of supplying arms to Ukraine if Congress does not agree.

Oleksandr Kovalenko, a military-political analyst at the “Anti-Information” group, says that no consensus will be found in the US Congress in January. However, there is a possibility of supplying weapons to Ukraine through other means.

He said this in the broadcast of the television channel “Espresso”.

“Europe can only partially compensate for the shortfall in US aid. As for the aid package, this package is the last one in the final period of 2023. I would not be surprised if we see another aid in the future. The package is already in 2024. This financial opportunity is still available in Washington. The US does not have money for new packages. The reports put pressure on the capitalist mountains, actions of congressmen to speed up the process of finding a consensus,” explained Kovalenko.

According to him, the United States has a “plan B” regarding the supply of weapons to Ukraine, and it can be used if no consensus is reached.

“This possibility is not very legally sound under the law of the United States, but such a possibility exists. Usually, it might be called a “Plan B.'' will be used. But a consensus will be found. Because this is a US foreign policy issue at the level of state interests,” Kovalenko stressed.

It is worth recalling that earlier Democratic Congressman Mike Quigley said that the US Congress could send an additional aid package to Ukraine in mid-January. At the same time, there is already a “plan B” in case of failure of the referendum.
