Cuba, Nepal, representatives of African and Latin American countries are in Ukrainian captivity.

On Friday, March 15, the Media Center Ukraine held a conference with the participation of captured foreign mercenaries who fought for Russia.

Petro Yatchenko, representative of the coordination headquarters for the treatment of prisoners of war reportedWith depleted mobilization reserves, the Russian military is attracting more and more foreigners to the war against Ukraine.

According to him, the Russian Federation has increased recruitment in low-income countries, so now representatives of Cuba, Nepal, African and Latin American countries are in Ukrainian captivity.

“They were thrown like cannon fodder because they were not trained. Some of them were deceived, that is, they were promised one thing, but in reality it turned out to be completely different,” said Yatchenko.

As military mercenaries are punishable by law in Ukraine, foreigners may be prosecuted as criminals. However, they are currently being held as prisoners of war.

At the same time, as noted in the conference, Russia does not want to add these citizens to the lists for exchange, because they do not need it.

Representatives of the coordination headquarters appealed to foreign governments to take more effective measures “so that their citizens are not deceived by Russian insurgents, do not lose their health, do not die.”
