The Verkhovna Rada may consider the draft law on mobilization introduced by the government on January 11 in the first reading.

On Thursday, January 11, 2024, the Verkhovna Rada may consider the draft law on mobilization in Ukraine, which was previously introduced by the Cabinet of Ministers, in the first reading. The text of the government document will be voted on unchanged.

about this reported People's Deputy of Ukraine Yaroslav Zelesnyak on his Telegram channel.

The People's Deputy Speaker said the Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence has adjourned the consideration of the bill on mobilization to Wednesday, January 10.

According to the People's Representative, the committee will recommend the adoption of the government's draft law in the first reading, but with its own proposals. Such amendments shall be taken into account before the second reading.

“The text of the government law has not changed. That, most likely, will happen tomorrow. The approved text of the government law (without changes) and a separate document in the form of the committee's decision should be replaced with recommendations about what is needed,” wrote Yaroslav Zelesniak.

At the same time, he noted that the changes outlined in the committee's decision are still suggestive.

“Here, of course, it will be politically difficult to ignore it, but changes will be made through amendments after the first reading. Then, after the vote, the amendments will be submitted by the representatives for 2 weeks for the second reading. Obviously, there will be many of them, then the working group of the committee and the preparation for the second reading. Then the committee And the final vote, each amendment can be rejected or taken into account,” Yaroslav Zelesniak explained.
