Canada will buy and transfer modern air defense systems to Ukraine from the US Nasams.

Canadian Defense Minister Anita Anand and Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov announced this.

“This is Canada’s first free air defense system to Ukraine. In the context of Russia’s brutal airstrikes against Ukraine, this air defense system will help protect Ukrainian settlements and critical infrastructure objects from attacks by drones, missiles and aircraft,” emphasized the head of the Canadian Ministry of Defense.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov stressed that Canada’s decision will strengthen Ukraine’s security.

“Today I had a very fruitful conversation with my close friend Anita Anand, Minister of National Defense of Canada. We discussed some good news coming from Canada that will greatly enhance our defense capabilities” – wrote Reznikov.

We will remind you that earlier modern systems were already transferred to Ukraine IRIS-T and NASAMS air defense systems. It was very effective that Russia shot down almost one hundred percent of the missiles and drones that were constantly attacking Ukraine.

In early December, the US Department of Defense signed a $1.2 billion contract with Raytheon Technologies. Production of six NASAMS air defense systems for Ukraine.
