A horrific-looking accident snarled traffic in Ostrava-Porupa on Thursday afternoon. The driver flipped the car onto its roof on Opavska Street near Martynowska and Frankowska Streets. The maneuver was captured by other drivers’ cameras.

The accident took place shortly before 3 pm. According to police spokesperson Pavla Jirokova, the driver (born in 1985) did not adjust his speed to the condition and nature of the road and ran into the concrete wall on the left. Traffic at the site was controlled by police officers while investigating and clearing the aftermath of the accident. Two units of Ostrava’s professional firefighters intervened on the spot, namely from Poruba and Zábřeh stations.

“After arriving at the scene, the units stopped the leakage of operating fluids leaking from the vehicle. The commander of the intervention then called a special rescue vehicle to the scene, with the help of which the vehicle was put back on its wheels. Firefighters then cleared the road so that traffic could be fully restored,” said the regional fire department. Department spokesman Lucas Popp commented on the intervention.
