On April 15, at 5:50 a.m., a car of the Operational-Field Squad of the Rybki District of the Chernihiv Regional State Police exploded in a mine between the villages of Verbivka and Atkilnya of the Dobryansk TG, Chernihivoplenerko reported.
“Fortunately, our colleagues – electrician-driver Volodymyr Feshchenko and electrician Maksim Serednichenko – were alive. From today, this day, without exaggeration, will be their second birthday,” commented the company's Telegram channel.
As a result of adverse weather conditions (rain, strong winds) on the evening of April 14, several overhead lines were cut in the northwestern part of the region. Ripkin County's operations team went to repair the damage, the company said.
So, at 4:41 a.m., he was dispatched to inspect an overhead line near Verbivka that supplies 151 homes, and at 5:54 a.m., Maksim Serednysenko, an electrician who lives in Ripok, told the dispatcher that he and his colleague had an explosion. “The car was lying on the right side. I finished at the bottom, and Volodymyr pushed me down from the top, – recalls Maxim Serednichenko. – I started calling him, but he didn't answer. I carefully climbed out the window and began to warm my friend with my hand. Volodymyr stirred, then I gave him a hand and helped him out of the car. Not enough time, she was burning.”
The electrical workers left just in time because within minutes, only a pile of charred remains remained from the service car “Toyota Hilux”. The boys moved to a safe distance and called the dispatcher, who immediately called an ambulance and told the company's management what had happened.
Chernihiv residents were literally born in shirtsleeves, because none of them suffered serious injuries. Volodymyr Feshchenko – snare blast injury, closed cranial brain injury, brain trauma, closed cervical spine injury and laceration of soft tissues of the face, Maksim Serednychenko – snare blast injury, closed cranial brain injury, cerebral concussion and satna head.
Both are currently in hospital.
The police are currently investigating all the circumstances of the case. It was known in advance that the car had hit a bomb while exiting the forest.
