According to Šbestová, the existing coalition should be preserved, and only some members of the ANO movement would change. Based on the agreement, members of the ANO movement will not propose a vote of confidence on Macura at Wednesday’s meeting.

According to him, Magura made his position available with the understanding that it could be handed over to a successor chosen gradually from within the ANO movement. Sebestova, responsible for the environment, and Deputy Bajkarova, responsible for investments, decided on the same procedure.

According to Sebestova, one of the conclusions of the Monday Club is that it will be united in voting.

“This is positive news for the alliance, because we insist on preserving the current alliance,” Sebastova said.

The movement is yet to discuss who could replace the trio at the city helm. According to him, members of the city administration should hand over their functions within a few months, maximum six months. He will be the representative of Makura.

After last year’s municipal elections, ANO agreed to a municipal coalition with Spolu (ODS, KDU-ČSL and TOP 09) and Pirates. Ostrava ANO, led by Macura, won 21 mandates in the 55-member council in municipal elections in September.

Magura, 58, is leading Ostrava for a third term as mayor, having been elected for the first time in autumn 2014.
