The tactical exercise focused on the issue of a possible attack by armed criminals with a large number of injured and killed people.
“The main goal is to verify procedures during these types of emergency events and at the same time to verify cooperation with other elements of the integrated rescue system,” regional police spokesman Kamil Marek said.
According to him, it is very important to get feedback from similar preventive actions as part of a tactical exercise. “Particularly check the speed and timing of the intervention, and last but not least, its tactics,” explained the spokesperson.
Students do not participate in training with exceptions. Superiors included academics and staff.
The public was not affected by the tactical exercise, but according to Mark, residents and businesses around the university campus may be surprised by the large number of emergency vehicles from all components of the integrated rescue system.
“We live in a world where the unthinkable is becoming a reality. We hope that a situation like today's exercise will never happen in our region, but it is imperative that we be prepared for such an event,” he stressed.
In December, a shooting in Prague that left 14 dead and 25 other students and teachers injured, universities focused on security.
