Tragedy in Pasco. Firefighters pulled two children out of the burning apartment, one of whom did not survive

Two small children were carried in their arms from a burning apartment building in Pasco Wednesday afternoon, and unfortunately one of them died despite the best efforts of rescuers. Another, along with a 36-year-old woman, was being treated at the hospital. Criminal investigators are now investigating the circumstances of the tragic fire.

Three fire brigades responded to the fire in Paskov in Frýdecko-Místek. Three men volunteered to leave the house before they arrived.

“The incident was reported to the emergency line within a quarter of three and a half hours, and the operation center dispatched professional firefighters from the Moravian-Silesian Fire Rescue Service station in Frýdek-Místek and volunteer units with them. The villages of Baskov and Vrydimov,” said fire department spokesman Jakub Kozak. said.

After arriving at the scene, units in breathing equipment with a thermal camera and a water jet forced their way into the smoky apartment. They found a woman and two children there.

“Firefighters took the woman out of the house through the stairs, carrying both children out in their arms. They immediately began indirect heart massage on one of them and used an automated external defibrillator,” Kozak added.

“Rescuers rescued a four-year-old boy who was pulled out of the burning apartment. There were no signs of life. He suffered extensive burns on most of his body,” regional rescue spokesman Lukas Humble explained.

Male paramedics gained access to the bone marrow, began administration of drugs, and continued indirect heart massage that had begun. “The attending physician performed an intubation on the airways and connected him to a device for controlled ventilation. After several tens of minutes, efforts to save him were unsuccessful and the physician had to declare the child dead,” Humble added.

Rescuers administered first aid to a 36-year-old woman and a two-year-old boy. Both breathed in the smoke of the fire. “Paramedics sedated the boy, intubated him and switched the patient to artificial lung ventilation. After other necessary measures, he was taken by helicopter to the emergency department of Ostrava General Hospital. After pre-hospital emergency treatment, ground troops transported the woman to Ostrava University Hospital,” the news release said. The spokesperson said.

The fire was contained in about half an hour, with firefighters checking the roof of the building from a car ladder to rule out fire spreading to the structure.

It is not known what caused the fire. “Unfortunately, a small person died in a fire that broke out in the afternoon in one of the apartments of the house in the village of Baskov.
