The Cabinet of Ministers has exempted a portion of farmers and owners of war-affected lands from paying taxes.

On May 3, 2023, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed Law No. 7632, which exempts certain individuals from paying taxes for 2021-2022.

According to the government, the head of state exempted farmers and owners of war-affected lands from paying taxes. We are talking about war zones (or occupied territories) or land in them:

  • Excavated
  • Contaminated by fragments

The Act provides the following terms for land tax exemption:

for individuals – from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022 and in 2023 – until the last day of the month when active hostilities or occupation ends;

For legal entities – from March 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022 and 2023, until the last day of the month in which active hostilities or occupation ends.

It should be noted that the remaining Ukrainians in 2023 will be taxed on average at UAH 1.2-1.3 thousand per hectare. But already in 2024, its amount will increase to UAH 1.4-1.5 thousand.
