The visit of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland has begun.
According to the press service of the Office of the President, Olena Zelenska visited 10 Downing Street at the invitation of Akshata Murthy, the wife of the Prime Minister of Great Britain.
The First Lady of Ukraine thanked Britain for supporting Ukraine, in particular, for organizing the Eurovision Song Contest together with Ukrainian partners.
“The impossibility of the winning country hosting this tournament should be another reminder to the world of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine,” he stressed.
Prime Minister of Great Britain Rishi Sunak also attended the meeting. The President’s wife gave Akshati Murthy an invitation to the Third Summit of First Women and Mothers, which will be held in Kyiv on September 6 and will be dedicated to the topic of mental health.
Zelenska noted that the event strengthens the role of the world’s first women and soft power to improve the lives of various countries and people. “We teach your army, but really you teach us. We learn from Ukraine and Ukrainians how to be strong and resilient,” the prime minister’s wife said.
After the meeting, the First Lady of Ukraine and Akshata Murthy visited the British Library together. Earlier, there was a presentation of the “Books Without Borders” project launched by the First Lady of Ukraine, for which 16,000 books in Ukrainian were printed for children coming to Great Britain.
Zelenska familiarized herself with the Ukrainian collection of the British Library and, together with the institution’s general director, Sir Raleigh Keating, presented a “Ukrainian bookshelf”.
