Canada sends aid to Ukraine’s demining

“Another batch of technical assistance has arrived from the Canadian government to the state emergency service – new Digital Vanguard-S robotic complexes that will help Ukrainian pyrotechnicians defuse explosive weapons in populated areas,” the news says.

It is worth noting that the Digital Vanguard-S robotic complexes were transferred to the pyrotechnic units of the Mykolayiv and Zaporizhzhya regions, as well as to the sappers of the Luhansk garrison, currently working in the Kherson region.

They were received by the Mobile Rapid Response Rescue Center, the Interregional Rapid Response Center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and the 2nd Special Rapid Response Center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

What do you know about this robot?

DIGITAL VANGUARD-S has three installed cameras, thanks to which the operator monitors the manipulations, obtaining a clear and high-quality image of the workplace in real time.

Such technical abilities allow him to stay away from explosives. And because of their small dimensions and maneuverability, robots can be used in hard-to-reach places.

Demining of Ukraine

Due to Russian invasion of Ukraine and intense hostilities, our country is contaminated with explosives. Some analysts call Ukraine the most mined country in the world.

In late September, Switzerland approved a $110 million package for demining Ukraine. They will be awarded between 2024 and 2027.

It was also previously announced that Norway would provide funding for demining in Ukraine. It is about 18.5 million dollars.
