Cars, pedestrians, cyclists and trains have been crossing two-level roads for weeks now at the roundabout built for the southern tangent between České Budějovice and Včelná. The larger roundabout, along with another roundabout on International Road I/3, belongs to two areas known as the Southern Tangent, which are already serving the public. On Tuesday, June 27, 2023, representatives of the region, along with their partners, will formally present the entire Southern Tangent.

Southern Horizons is a major regional transportation investment. As the South Bohemian Governor Martin Kuba said earlier, the progress of the construction was reorganized to facilitate traffic on the České Budějovice – Včelná line and at the same time the road I/ I/ 3.
According to Deputy Governor Tomáš Hajdůšek, from the perspective of the budget, this is one of the most important investments in the region this year. Construction started in 2021. It is an important construction for a large area, as it will connect the D3 highway and the České Budějovice – Český Krumlov extension.

At the new junction between České Budějovice and Včelná, trains, pedestrians and cyclists move along their paths with the surrounding landscape. And on the “base” there was a roundabout designed for cars, which would come here from Budžoviš to Litica, Velna, from Road I/3 and from Rutne. The next exit leads to Boršov nad Vltavou. A southern tangent is being built to connect the I/3 road near Včelná and the D3 highway near Roudného.
Residents of Budějovice and Včelná quickly learned to use the path for pedestrians and cyclists, as it allows a much quieter journey next to the busy road for cars. Significant for road traffic is the disappearance of level crossings for cars at roundabouts. However, the major impact on road traffic will be evident only after the entire Southern Hemisphere is fully operational.

Among the South Bohemian region’s major transport investments, preparations are currently underway for the reconstruction of the Cosmonaut bridge in Budžovice. The region has already announced an architectural competition, and they have until July 11 to submit proposals, from which a jury will select the finalists. The region is also an investor in the public reconstruction of the new bridge at Týn nad Vltavou, which has already started.
